In 2010, the Year 8 Curriculum was restructured to include a range of electives covering a broad range of areas. One of those electives was "To Houston...and Beyond!" Since then the program has become a popular choice for students who enjoy the following aspects of Rocketry:
::: Science :::
Students explore the theory of rocket design and flight principles. During the practical component of the program, students launch solid fuel and water rockets. The rockets for the program are carefully selected from a range of suppliers and plastic softdrink and milk bottles are collected throughout the year for the water rockets.
::: Computer Aided Design :::
Students design their own rockets using CAD software, Solid Edge.
Designs are then printed using a 3D Printer.
::: The Future of the Rocketry Program :::
Staff are currently working on a way for students to not only design and print their projects but launch their own rockets too!
